A provincial nomination can add a significant boost to your CRS and change your position in Express Entry draws.
2026 program changes — read before planning

Ontario OINP is active again — redesigned June 26, 2026. Under O. Reg. 204/26, Ontario closed all 8 former OINP streams and launched the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream with 3 pathways: TEER 0–3 (higher-skilled), TEER 4–5 (essential workers), and self-employed physicians. The EOI system is temporarily closed and is expected to reopen later summer 2026. Pending EOIs from the former streams were automatically withdrawn — candidates will need to submit fresh EOIs when the new system opens.

Currently active provincial programs: Ontario (OINP — Ontario Workforce Priority Stream, EOI reopening later summer 2026), British Columbia (BC PNP — healthcare/trades/construction focus after April 2026 Look West refocus), Alberta (AAIP), Saskatchewan (SINP — windowed intake for capped sectors), Manitoba (MPNP), Nova Scotia (NSNP), New Brunswick (NBPNP), Prince Edward Island (PEI PNP), Newfoundland and Labrador (NLPNP), Northwest Territories (GNWT NNP), and Yukon Nominee Program.

Always confirm current stream status on the provincial program website before acting. Ontario candidates can monitor ontario.ca/immigration for the EOI reopening date and Phase 2 stream announcements (Priority Healthcare, Entrepreneur, Exceptional Talent — planned, no dates announced).

Based on your current profile, PNP can be one of the strongest possible moves when your score needs a bigger strategic shift than incremental gains alone, but only if stream fit is actually actionable.

Reality check before relying on PNP

Reality check before relying on PNP

PNP can be the highest-upside strategy in the roadmap, but it is not automatically available. Selection still depends on provincial criteria, stream timing, and real profile fit. For some users, nomination should lead the roadmap now. For others, it is smarter as a parallel or fallback strategy while language, experience, or targeting improve first.
